Devon McMillan To Transfer From Fordham

The hits unfortunately keep coming for Fordham University.

Already mired in a 1-8 start that has seen star forward Chris Gaston miss the Rams' last six games while recovering from knee surgery, head coach Tom Pecora was dealt another blow this afternoon when sophomore guard Devon McMillan was granted his release and will transfer next semester.  "We understand and support the decision of Devon and his family, and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors," Pecora said in a written statement issued by the university.  Sources close to A Daly Dose Of Hoops have confirmed that McMillan cited lack of playing time as his primary reason for leaving Rose Hill, and the two sides were said to have had a cordial parting.

The Brooklyn point guard, more commonly known on the court as "Fatty," had come back from offseason shoulder injuries last week against Harvard; and had competed in three games for the Rams, the most recent of which being Fordham's 58-47 loss to St. John's Saturday night in the Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden.

"He's leaving because he feels like he needs a new setting," McMillan's brother Dwan, a former point guard for Pecora himself at Hofstra, told SNY's Adam Zagoria.  "He's just coming off surgery and missed the first six games.  He felt it was best to move on."

McMillan, who scored eight points in his limited action after averaging over seven points and nearly three assists per game as a freshman last season, leaves behind a hole in the Fordham backcourt that Pecora will attempt to fill with Jermaine Myers and Branden Frazier, both of whom currently play primarily off the ball.  The Rams return to the court this Saturday, when they face Princeton at the Barclays Center.
