Last season, Stony Brook University had a dream season for their program, winning a school record 25 games and picking up the program's first-ever Division I postseason win when the Seawolves defeated Massachusetts in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament. Today, head coach Steve Pikiell released the first step of Stony Brook's attempt at an encore, a 15-game nonconference schedule that could very well be the stiffest test his Seawolves have faced, but it remains a very favorable schedule for his team, which returns mostly everyone from the rotation last year.

Stony Brook opens the 2013-14 season at home when Marist College returns the favor from their matchup last year by coming to Pritchard Gym on November 8th, with Division III opponent Haverford College coming to Suffolk County two days later. On November 13th, the Seawolves wrap up their three-game homestand by welcoming Northeastern into Long Island before traveling to Assembly Hall in Bloomington to face Tom Crean and Indiana on November 17th in a 2K Sports Classic preliminary round game.

The Seawolves will then head to the University of Detroit for a 2K Sports Classic subregional, first taking on Toledo November 22nd before entertaining Florida Atlantic the following day, with Ray McCallum and the Titans awaiting on November 24th. Stony Brook then wraps up a stretch of eight games in nineteen days when they take on Canisius in Buffalo on November 26th.

Following two home games to open December against St. Francis College (December 1st) and Fairleigh Dickinson, (December 4th) the Seawolves make their second trip to Madison Square Garden in three years when they face La Salle on December 7th in the opening game of the Holiday Festival. Stony Brook then gets an eleven-day respite before heading to Baltimore to meet Loyola on December 19th, three days before their final nonconference home game at Pritchard Gym against Cornell on December 22nd. The Seawolves' two final non-America East games take place in 2014, first on January 3rd against VCU before coming to Levien Gym to face Columbia on January 8th.
