Before Monmouth has even played a game, they picked up a significant victory Friday afternoon.

Freshman forward Pierre Sarr, the product of Roselle Catholic High School, was cleared earlier today by the NCAA for full participation with the Hawks this season. Originally reported by Josh Newman of the Asbury Park Press, the university officially confirmed the good news shortly thereafter.

"We are happy and excited for Pierre," said head coach King Rice. "Pierre gets to fulfill his dream of being a college basketball player. It's a proud day for the Sarr family, and a very happy moment for Monmouth basketball."

While Sarr is not with the team tonight for their season opener against UCLA, arrangements are currently being made for him to join Monmouth as they resume their West Coast road trip Monday night against USC.
